Engine Types

2 stroke
Two stroke engines have the best mix between power and RPMs. They are measured in CC (cubic centimeters). These engines are made normally for dirt bikes but people have found them useful in go carts that do not want to sacrifice power for speed.

4 stroke
A 4 stroke engine is the highest RPM motor there is. They are great for getting top end speed but low end power suffers some. These are better used in on road racing applications and controlled conditions.

Diesel
Diesel Engines are the least used of all the types of go carts. They are good if you need to tow something or are planning on going through rough terrain and steep hills where speed isn’t a factor. In these types of applications speed isn’t wise so a diesel engine may be perfect for you.
